Hat hire terms
Please read our Terms and Conditions carefully, before entering into this hire contract. These conditions are binding.
By hiring one of our hats you accept that you have read and accepted the following conditions:
Terms & Conditions
This hire agreement is made between hat-hire.com and the hiree, hereinafter referred to as “The Client”.
The term “Hat” includes all hats, hatinators, fascinators and headpieces hired by Millinery by Sarah Dawnay / Pretty Good Life Hats to The Client.
1. Full payment for hire must be made at the time of booking. When you hire a hat you will be required to provide Millinery by Sarah Dawnay / Pretty Good Life Hats with accurate, complete and current credit or debit card information for a valid credit or debit card that you are authorised to use.
2. The hat remains the sole property of Sarah Dawnay throughout the period of hire
3(i) The hire fee is for a period of 7 (seven) days from the date the hat is delivered or collected
(ii) If the hat is not received back at The Annex, Elston SP3 4HL within this 7 (seven) day period, an additional hire charge may be made
4. All responsibilities and liabilities of The Client are immediate from delivery or collection and remain until the hat is accepted back by Sarah Dawnay.
5. If the hat leaves the Millinery Studio in SP3 4HL, it is considered to have been hired, irrespective of whether or not it is actually worn
6(i) If the hat is damaged, then The Client is responsible for the cost of the repair
(ii) Partial damage to the headpieces, howsoever caused, which includes, but is not limited to trimmings, such as feathers, beading and ribbon, will incur a cost for repair
(iii) If the hat is damaged beyond repair, lost or stolen, irrespective of the reason, then the full purchase price will be paid by The Client. The replacement costs for each hat are held by Sarah Dawnay
7. The hat must not be altered or changed in any way; this includes, but is not limited to, the removal of hat tape.
8. Sarah Dawnay will not be liable for:
(i) any delay or failure to deliver due to circumstances which are beyond its control; including but not limited to postal delays and/or industrial action or
(ii) any damage or injury caused by the misuse of Millinery by Sarah Dawnay property
9. Cancellation of the hire of a hat must be made no less than seven days before the event in order for a refund to be issued
10. The safe return of the hat to The Annex @ The Cleeve, Elston Lane, Shrewton, SP3 4HL is the sole responsibility of The Client.
11. If your hat is not returned on the due return date agreed when the purchase was made, Millinery by Sarah Dawnay / Pretty Good Life Hats will charge your credit card for each overdue day, at the rate set for that hat as stated by Millinery by Sarah Dawnay / Pretty Good Life Hats, until a return date has been agreed by the client and Millinery by Sarah Dawnay / Pretty Good Life Hats are notified by the courier company.
12. All hatboxes supplied with the hired hat must be returned. The Client will be liable to a £15 charge to cover the cost of replacing any hatboxes not returned
13. Millinery By Sarah Dawnay / Pretty Good Life Hats have a privacy policy in relation to the collection of The Client’s personal information obtained through the hire process. By entering in to the hire agreement, you are consenting to the collection of your personal data. All client details remain in the sole possession of hat-hire.com these will never be shared with any third party.
Hat care and responsibility
14. Weather is the enemy of the hat and although we appreciate it is beyond control, please care for the hired hat in the rain as you would if it was your own. Keep it under an umbrella at all times when it is raining and be aware of certain fabrics and features of hats being more susceptible to weather damage in bad conditions. Millinery By Sarah Dawnay / Pretty Good Life Hats reserves the right to retain the full deposit if the item is returned marked or damaged in any way. This includes but is not limited to holes, dents, stains and rain marks. Credit or debit card details will be taken as a form of deposit and will only be deducted accordingly after discussion with the hirer and Millinery By Sarah Dawnay / Pretty Good Life Hats.
15. Under no circumstances are client to attempt to clean any hats themselves by any means. If done so, Millinery By Sarah Dawnay / Pretty Good Life Hats reserves the right to invoice for part or full replacement value of the items and charge you the full amount of any potential lost earnings or incurred costs regardless of whether any damage has been caused.
