I wanted to make a small navy hat that still had character and so designed this.
It is made from visca* straw with feather pompom and is finished with a feather spine that swoops upwards.
The shape of the hat works well in larger heads or fuller hair (it sits perfectly on me when I was making it),  To get it in place first place it up to your head and check that it is correctly orientated, then pop it in place while you bring the elastic down behind your head and slip under your hair, I find it is easier if I bring the hat down over my face to get the elastic under my hair then move it back into my head. The hat is designed to sit forward on the head, as in the photos.
 *visca is a synthetic straw made from woodpulp  or cellulose (similar to viscose and rayon).
