This hat sits elegantly to the side of the head, with the feather curling over. It is a very wearable size, with the colours and materials giving it the drama.
The main material is silk abaca - hat lovers may recognise abaca more readily in the form of sinamay the very lightweight straw like material used extentively in millinery, this material weaves the abaca with silk resulting in a wonderful material in rich colours, with good body and a luxurious sheen. The abaca is layered over a hand blocked buckram base.
I have lined the hat in a lovely silk linen material.
As with many of my hats, it is attached with an elastic, as I have found after loads of research (hat wearing) that this is the most comfortable way to wear a hat.
